Implant Options

Round saline: These breast implants are inflated after placement and have a thin silicone shell and are filled with saline. Saline implants are more prone to rippling and may feel less natural in patients with less body fat and breast tissue.

Shaped silicone: Shaped silicone breast implants come prefilled and like their round counterparts they are filled with a thick silicone material. However they are textured and have a teardrop shape and are filled with a denser silicone filling that is form stable. These implants can help achieve a more natural appearing augmentation in select patients who understand the unique risks associated with textured implants.

Preparing for Your Breast Augmentation Surgery

In preparing for breast augmentation surgery, it is important that you:

Take any medications prescribed to you and fill prescriptions for post-surgery care
Avoid taking aspirin and certain anti-inflammatory drugs as they can increase bleeding
Stop smoking six months prior to surgery
Arrange for transportation to and from our surgical center and care for at least 24 hours following your procedure

Breast Augmentation Recovery

It is normal when preparing for surgery to feel some anxiety, which is why the team at My Houston Surgeons will go out of their way to provide each patient with detailed information about each step of the process.

Breast augmentation surgery generally takes approximately one to two hours. Upon waking up, patients can expect to have surgical dressing covering their incisions, and wearing a post-surgical bra. This bra will need to be worn 24/7 for six weeks following surgery for optimal results. Some patients report tightness or achiness or in the breasts, but your surgeon will provide medication to alleviate this discomfort. There is no exact timeline for recovery after breast augmentation with implants as each woman’s body is unique. However, most patients see a full recovery and are able to resume normal activity in approximately six weeks, and many women feel ready to return to work after about a week.
