As one of our most popular cosmetic procedures, Liposuction is a great option for anyone looking to target stubborn unwanted fat from specific areas on their body like the stomach, arms, thighs, and abdomen. Our experienced team of liposuction surgeons performs this surgery with a technique specifically designed to sculpt the body and restore a more toned figure with natural-looking results.

Candidates for Liposuction

Liposuction is a great option for patients that are:
  • Close to their ideal weight
  • Overall healthy individuals without underlying medical conditions
  • Non-Smokers
  • Individuals with a good understanding and expectation of the results

Preparing for Liposuction Surgery

During the initial consultation with our surgeons, the patient’s specific body contouring goals will be discussed, along with previous medical history.1 Making sure our patients feel confident and comfortable is a top priority for our team and we encourage any and all questions be asked prior to having Liposuction scheduled.

The Liposuction Procedure

Liposuction is a commonly performed surgery that offers almost immediate results with minimal risk of complication, depending on the patient.3 In order to make sure patients are comfortable and receive top-quality care in a great environment, the My Houston Surgeons team performs this procedure at a facility accredited by the American Association of Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).

This surgery is performed under general anesthesia, or IV sedation. During the procedure, our skilled surgeons make small incisions in the target area(s) and use a small tube called a cannula. The cannula is used to suction or aspirate excess fat and safely remove it from the body.4

The most common areas that Liposuction is used to treat are:5

  • Face, Chin & Neck
  • Arms
  • Back
  • Abdomen
  • Flanks (love handles)
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Calves

Liposuction can be performed on its own or in conjunction with other procedures such as Post Weight Loss Surgery, Brachioplasty (Arm Lift), or Thigh Lift surgery.

Liposuction Recovery & Results

Results from the procedure are both progressive and immediate. Most patients see results right after surgery while some may have to wait for swelling to go down, in order to see the maximum effects of the procedure. Liposuction offers a long lasting solution for patients who maintain a healthy diet and exercise regularly.6

Our surgeons along with the supporting staff at the practice provide full support and care for patients right from their initial consultation stage through recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions About Liposuction

Can I have multiple areas of my body treated at once?

Absolutely! Many patients choose to have Liposuction on a variety of areas on their body. We always prioritize safety at My Houston Surgeons, so your surgeon may recommend separate procedures if your treatment plan involves multiple large areas.

Will Liposuction permanently remove the fat?

Liposuction permanently removes the targeted fat cells. We recommend that patients keep a healthy diet and a regular exercise routine in order to make sure the results are permanent.6 Small variations in weight after liposuction are normal.

After Liposuction, will I have scars?

The experienced doctors at My Houston Surgeons use advanced techniques to ensure minimal scarring in areas that can be easily hidden. Small scars are normal and should be expected.

Are there risks associated with Liposuction?

All surgical procedures are accompanied by some degree of risk, like bleeding and anesthesia reactions. Liposuction risks include infection and possible temporary or permanent numbness.5 Our team has performed countless successful liposuction procedures and is happy to address any patient concerns.
