Rhinoplasties (sometimes called nose jobs) are some of the most popular cosmetic procedures requested by patients.1 Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that can reshape the nose to not only enhance appearance but can also correct breathing problems and improve oxygen intake. A liquid rhinoplasty—or non-surgical rhinoplasty—uses dermal fillers to provide patients with similar, non-permanent results with a far less invasive procedure.2 Our Houston facial plastic surgeon has extensive experience with non-surgical procedures, including a “liquid nose job” using hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane.
What is Liquid Rhinoplasty?
Though results from a liquid rhinoplasty aren’t permanent, they can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months and may require regular touch-ups. This is a great option for patients who aren’t sure about a traditional rhinoplasty but still want an enhanced facial appearance. Additionally, some patients who undergo a liquid rhinoplasty opt for a permanent fix down the road and feel more at ease because they were able to test out their cosmetic update first, with a non-surgical procedure.
Good Candidates For Liquid Rhinoplasty
This procedure is a popular alternative to cosmetic surgery, especially for patients who want minimal enhancement or want to test out facial procedures before committing to the long term.
Ideal candidates for liquid rhinoplasty are patients who are seeking to:
- Improve the appearance of a flat nasal bridge
- Lift a drooping nasal tip
- Correct a retracted columella
- Reduce the appearance of disproportionate nostrils
- Reduce the appearance of a dorsal hump
- Fill a nasal sidewall depression
- Enhance a retracted anterior nasal spine
- Correct nasal asymmetry in a crooked nose
- Correct a saddle nose deformity caused by a failed primary rhinoplasty
The Non-Surgical Nose Job In Houston
Liquid rhinoplasty is a non-surgical alternative to traditional rhinoplasty. The procedure uses injectable fillers composed of hyaluronic acid to enhance the shape and symmetry of the nose. With this procedure, our doctors can address bumps or unevenness, and can also adjust the height of the nasal bridge and lift any drooping at the tip of the nose. Liquid rhinoplasty is an augmentation procedure, so it cannot reduce the size of a patient’s nose. However, many patients feel they have the appearance of a reduced nose size after a liquid rhinoplasty because our doctors were able to adjust the bridge height, making the nose itself appear smaller.
Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty Procedure and Recovery
Before receiving a liquid rhinoplasty, a topical numbing cream is applied to the nose. During this awake procedure, hyaluronic acid filler is injected into into the target areas on a patient’s nose, most often into the subcutaneous tissues. These filler injections are strategically placed to modify the shape of the nose and achieve the patient’s desired results which can be seen immediately. This quick process is a non-invasive procedure, there is no recovery time or downtime required. Side effects include minimal bruising and swelling, however, patients can typically return to normal activity right away.
