Scar Revision
Life is unpredictable and accidents happen. Sometimes surgery is necessary. While nobody wants a scar, it can be inevitable, as scars occur anytime the skin and the underlying tissue is damaged. Displeasing scars may form if a scar came from trauma, healed poorly, was infected, is stretched too much at closure, or if it lies in the position against the natural creases of the face. Any of these factors can result in a scar that is raised or depressed, large, oddly shaped, or different in texture and color from the rest of the skin.
Procedure
Although it is usually impossible to completely erase a scar, scar revision can minimize the look of a scar so it blends better with the tone and texture of the surrounding skin. Our goal is to use scar revision to transform unsightly scars into thin, flat scars that are a good color and texture match to the rest of your skin.
There are a number of options we use to treat scars. These include:
– Topical Treatments (Biocorneum Scar Care)
– Laser Resurfacing
– Revision Surgery
During scar revision surgery, our surgeons can realign your scar so it has better wound closure, orientation with the creases of the skin, and in cases of scars on the face, they can hide them within the natural folds that our patients already have.
To determine the right scar treatment plan for you, it is imperative that you consult with one of our talented, board-certified surgeons. Together, you can come with the best way to refine your scar so you look and feel beautiful both inside and out.
