Brazilian Butt Lift

(BBL)

With the popularity of curvy celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Beyonce, many people are hoping to achieve the coveted hourglass body shape. Butt augmentation procedures aim to contour the body and enhance the buttocks to create a rounder, smoother and more shapely appearance. There are a variety of ways to achieve these goals such as high volume fat grafting like a Brazilian Butt Lift, buttock implants, or skin tightening (traditional buttock lift). Butt augmentation procedures can be combined and are tailored to the specific needs of every patient.

Brazilian Butt Lift: Candidacy & Procedure

To achieve your desired body profile, a “Brazilian butt lift” can create a more shapely, filled out and lifted backside. A Brazillian Butt Lift works is by using a patient’s own fat (autologous fat transfer) to augment the gluteal area or buttocks and/or hips. Our surgeons harvest fat through liposuction. We then process the fat in a centrifuge until it is completely purified, and inject the processed fat into the buttocks and/or hips for a natural enhancement.

During a traditional Brazilian Butt Lift, our surgeons liposuction fat from the abdomen, waistline, back and love handles. We can also help patients achieve more volume and skin tightening, through liposuction on other areas of the body such as the thighs and arms. This helps our surgeons collect more fat for injection. Additionally, we sculpt other areas around the buttocks to help make the augmentation more pronounced.

Patients who are unhappy with the shape or appearance of their buttocks, but have good donor fat are considered to be the best candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift. If you are a healthy non-smoker, over the age of 18, have realistic yet positive expectations, and unhappy with your buttocks and or hips, you may be a good candidate for these procedures. A physical exam and a review of your medical history will help our surgeons determine if a Brazilian butt lift is indeed suitable for you. This treatment is performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia or IV sedation.

Buttock Implants

Implant-based butt augmentation is another popular procedure to enhance a patient’s natural curvature. The procedure requires our surgeons to make an incision near the gluteal cleft or in the lower buttock crease. Next, they insert synthetic buttock implants to create generous curves. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation. Buttock implants is mostly recommended for patients who have flat backsides and limited fatty tissue elsewhere on the body. Buttock implants are made of soft silicone and are inserted into the gluteal muscle or in the folds between the cheeks right above the pelvic bone for a lifted and shapelier figure.

Traditional Butt Augmentation

A traditional butt augmentation, more commonly known as a “buttock lift,” is another way to add natural looking and feeling enhancement to your curves. The procedure involves creating a incision across the lower back. Excess hanging skin is lifted, trimmed and sutured, to help the butt stand out. Our surgeons can also perform liposuction in adjacent areas to help with gluteal contouring and fat grafting.

Recovery

After a butt augmentation, patients must refrain from applying direct pressure to their derrière (i.e. no lying or sitting on the buttocks) for 10 – 14 days. After a Brazilian Butt Lift, our surgeons will provide you with a lipo foam that will help shape your lift and apply uniform pressure under your compression garment for one week. You will be able to shower after this garment is removed one week post-op. Patients will be able resume all normal activities four to six weeks after the procedure. It is important for our patients to understand that the body always metabolizes fat, and that volume loss may occur up to three months after the surgery.
