Endoscopic Brow Lift

The eyebrows and forehead are some of the most expressive areas of our face, which means that they are also some of the first areas of the face to show signs of aging. Over time, the eyebrows begin to descend and forehead wrinkles, furrows, and frown lines grow more pronounced. Endoscopic brow lift surgery performed by the specialists at My Houston Surgeons can counteract these changes to restore a smoother, more youthful appearance to the upper face for our patients from Houston, The Woodlands, and surrounding areas in Texas.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift, sometimes referred to as a forehead or an upper facelift, is a surgical procedure that addresses signs of aging on the forehead and the area above the eyes. During the brow lift procedure, a plastic surgeon elevates sagging brows and smoothes the forehead skin to reveal a more youthful appearance.1

The endoscopic brow lift has become the preferred method for this cosmetic procedure at My Houston Surgeons. This approach is less invasive than a traditional brow lift, subtly elevating the brows with reduced downtime and nearly invisible scarring.

Benefits of a Brow Lift

When performed by an experienced and board-certified plastic surgeon, an eyebrow lift can result in an appearance that looks naturally more youthful and alert. Benefits of an endoscopic brow lift include:

  • Improved brow position
  • Improved brow elevation
  • Enhanced eyebrow arch and contours
  • Reduced forehead wrinkles, including frown lines, furrows, and crow’s feet
  • Reduced heaviness of the upper eyelids
  • When compared to a traditional brow lift, an endoscopic brow lift offers faster healing and minimal scarring

Who is a Candidate for Brow Lift Surgery

If you are troubled by signs of aging to your upper face, you may benefit from an eyebrow lift with one of our Houston plastic surgeons. Good candidates for brow lift surgery are:

  • In good general health
  • Non-smokers
  • Realistic about what can be achieved through plastic surgery2

Preparing for Your Brow Lift

The key to feeling well-prepared for brow lift surgery is to attend a private consultation with one of our plastic surgeons. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to get candid about your cosmetic goals and concerns. Your cosmetic surgeon will educate you about the endoscopic brow lift procedure, and you will decide together on the appropriate treatment plan for your unique needs. Once your plastic surgery has been scheduled, we will give you detailed information about preparing for your procedure as well as what you can expect after your brow lift.

Endoscopic Brow Lift Surgery: What to Expect

Brow lift surgery is an outpatient procedure, typically performed under local anesthesia with IV sedation. To begin the endoscopic brow lift procedure, very small incisions are made within the hairline. The plastic surgeon uses a tiny camera called an endoscope to access eyebrow muscles to reposition and lift the brows, then closes with sutures.

Endoscopic Brow Lift Recovery and Results

Immediately after your brow lift, you can expect to experience some swelling and discomfort. Your plastic surgeon will prescribe pain medication to help you stay comfortable, and you may also find that a cold compress is helpful. We recommend that you keep your head elevated as much as possible. Recovery time varies, but most patients can return to their normal activities within 7 days of an endoscopic brow lift procedure (recovery is longer with a traditional brow lift). During a follow-up appointment, your surgeon will assess your healing and let you know when you can get back to more strenuous activities, usually in about one month.3

You should begin to see the results of your brow lift very quickly after your procedure, with full results apparent once all swelling has subsided.

Frequently Asked Questions About Brow Lift

Will I have visible scars after a brow lift?

Brow lift incisions are typically made along the hairline, making scars well-hidden. Over time, these scars fade significantly and become less noticeable. Because an endoscopic brow lift only requires very small incisions, scaring is barely perceptible.

How long will the results last?

Results from a brow lift can last for many years. However, the natural aging process will continue. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help prolong the results.

Can I combine a brow lift with other facial procedures?

Yes, many patients choose to combine a brow lift with other procedures such as eyelid surgery (eyelid lift or blepharoplasty) or a facelift/ neck lift for comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as BOTOX® Cosmetic, laser skin resurfacing, and cosmetic injectables and fillers also complement the brow lift quite well.

Is a brow lift suitable for both men and women?

Absolutely! Both men and women can benefit from the procedure. Our experienced plastic surgeons understand the different aesthetics for male and female patients, ensuring that their brow lift results look natural.
